These terms apply to Beyond the Board’s live online chess classes and to this website. By booking a class or using a student login you agree to them. They are written to be read by parents and guardians; please go through them with your child where it helps.
Who we are
Beyond the Board is run by Coach Aniket Singh in India. You can reach us atbeyondtheboardchess1@gmail.com.
Classes
- The first class is a free demo of about 40 minutes. There is no obligation to continue.
- Regular classes are live and online, usually one-to-one and about 45 minutes long (or as agreed), at the times you arrange with the Coach.
- Fees are agreed with the Coach for each lesson before classes begin. No payments are taken on this website.
- How fees are paid, how much notice a cancellation needs and what happens to a missed class are agreed with the Coach, in writing, before classes begin.
- Teaching follows our curriculum, adjusted to each child. We cannot promise a particular result, rating or tournament success: progress depends on many things, including practice between classes.
Student logins
- The Coach creates a login for each student; children cannot sign themselves up.
- Keep the password private. Tell the Coach straight away if you think someone else knows it.
- A parent or guardian is responsible for how their child’s login is used. The Coach may pause or close a login that is misused, and closes it when classes end.
In live classes
- Be kind and respectful; parents and guardians are welcome to be nearby during classes.
- Classes are not recorded by us, and nobody else may record or share a class (video, sound or screen) without everyone’s agreement.
- A good internet connection, a camera and a microphone help classes run well; we try our best, but we cannot be responsible for problems with your device or connection.
Our material
Lessons, puzzles, curriculum and the website belong to Beyond the Board. They are for your child’s own learning: please do not copy, share or sell them.
Other services
If you link a chess.com account, chess.com’s own terms apply to it; we only read its public games. The analysis board’s engine (Stockfish) is open-source software running on your device.
The website
We work to keep the website available and safe, but it may sometimes be unavailable or change. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
Privacy
How we look after personal information, including children’s, is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the date above and tell families by email before an important change applies.
